Job Summary

The Tax Intern is responsible for supporting the Tax department within several tax categories, including federal, state, and tax return preparation, provision work, planning, and project-based analysis.

Internship Length: 12 months

Start Date: January 2026 or sooner

Work Schedule: Part-time, minimum of 15 hours per week, hours can be scheduled during work week between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Central Standard Time Zone (flexible around class schedule), no weekend work

Pay:$20.00/hr

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Accurate preparation of federal proforma income tax returns to assist the tax team with federal consolidation and tax reporting
• Accurate preparation of state income tax returns and supporting schedules
• Preparation of annual and quarterly tax provisions including calculating book/tax differences.
• Assists with providing information for income, property, and sales/use tax audits.
• Assists in the maintenance and monitoring of tax-related accounts used in financial reporting.
• Assists with income, property, payroll and sales/use tax questions from divisional finance teams and/or federal, state, and local governmental agencies.
• Assists with projects, integrations and divestitures, tax incentives, and research.
• Provide feedback and identification of opportunities for process improvement.

Education and Experience Profile

• Currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university in a Bachelor’s Degree program with emphasis on Finance, Accounting, and/or tax
• Junior, Senior or recent graduate preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience with tax return or research applications is a plus
• Role not eligible for sponsorship

Required Skills

• Ability to work with federal, state and local governmental agencies in a professional manner to resolve tax issues.
• Ability to research income, payroll, property, and sales/use tax issues.
• Ability to interpret financial data received from the divisional finance teams to ensure tax filings and information provided to the government authorities is accurate.
• Project management skills with the ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
• Professional oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, decision making and administrative skills.
• Ability to scrutinize data and processes for best practices
• Ability to manage, interpret, and report on highly fragmented, often voluminous data.
