Job Description:

Greenlake is seeking a Senior Landman with a minimum of 10 years in-house experience to join our office in Austin, Texas. The Landman will primarily be responsible for managing the company’s leasehold in the Delaware Basin. The Landman should have prior experience handling all in-house functions related to rig line leasehold, mineral and royalty assets, while also managing special projects. A comprehensive understanding of land, legal, regulatory, and oil & gas industry principles is required. 

General Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with cross functional teams to execute the most beneficial drilling program or transaction where the company owns leasehold, farmouts, minerals, royalties, surface and SWDs.
  • Proactively monitors the assets to identify unleased mineral interests and negotiates oil and gas leases, trades or other development agreements.
  • Clears title ahead of a fast-paced drilling program and pools units where favorable to maintain lease terms. 
  • Negotiates, writes, reviews and amends agreements, such as farm-in/farm-outs, assignments, joint operating agreements and other agreements.
  • Identifies, develops and executes processes and procedures surrounding subsurface asset obligations and ownership including oversight of lease administration data. 
  • Supports land administration and other personnel to maintain accurate land records.
  • Maintains relationships with the partners, mineral owners, the GLO and other agencies or organizations. 
  • Stays current on case law, regulatory policy, industry trends, and area transactions.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations regarding potential trades, divestitures and acquisitions.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Specific skills or knowledge base to include:

  • Represents Greenlake in a professional manner.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with variable dependencies and changing deadlines.
  • Must know how to draft or have drafted by counsel the necessary agreements.
  • Good verbal and written communication. 

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in a Landman position (in-house preferred).
  • Must have experience in Permian (Delaware Basin preferred).
  • Strong understanding of local/state regulations and contract law.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent employment experience preferred.

Position Location: Applicant must reside in Austin, Texas or immediate vicinity. Relocation may be considered.

Travel Requirements: 10% -15% travel for meetings, training and visits to field locations may be required.
