Job Title: QA Lead Backend / ETL Location: India / Remote] Experience:

8 12 years (with strong Backend & ETL testing leadership)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced QA Lead Backend ETL to lead quality assurance activities for data-intensive backend systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in ETL testing, data validation, SQL, and backend APIs , along with strong leadership skills to manage QA teams, define test strategies, and ensure data accuracy, integrity, and performance across enterprise platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead QA strategy, planning, and execution for Backend and ETL systems

• Own ETL testing for data warehouses, data lakes, and reporting systems

• Validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes across source and target systems

• Perform data reconciliation, data quality checks, and data integrity validation

• Design and review test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for backend and ETL workflows

• Execute and guide SQL-based testing (complex joins, stored procedures, functions)

• Lead API testing (REST/SOAP) using tools like Postman, Swagger, or similar

• Coordinate system, integration, regression, and UAT testing

• Ensure testing coverage for batch jobs, schedules, error handling, and recovery scenarios

• Identify, track, and manage defects using JIRA / ALM / Azure DevOps

• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Developers, Business Analysts, and Product Owners

• Mentor QA team members and conduct reviews for test deliverables

• Drive process improvements, QA best practices, and automation feasibility

• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory standards

Required Skills & Qualifications: Technical Skills:

• Strong experience in Backend & ETL Testing

• Excellent knowledge of SQL (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, etc.)

• Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as:

  • Informatica

  • Talend

  • DataStage

  • SSIS

  • Azure Data Factory / AWS Glue (cloud-based ETL)

• Experience testing Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and BI systems

• Strong understanding of data models, schemas, mappings, and transformations

• Experience with API testing and backend services

• Knowledge of Unix/Linux commands and log analysis

• Exposure to performance and volume testing for large datasets

Tools:

• Test Management: JIRA, ALM, Azure DevOps

• API Testing: Postman, SOAP UI

• Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL

• Version Control: Git

• Reporting/BI (good to have): Power BI, Tableau, Looker

Leadership & Soft Skills:

• Proven experience leading QA teams (onshore/offshore)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management

• Ability to translate business requirements into effective test strategies

• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments

Nice to Have:

• Automation exposure (Python, Java, Selenium for backend validation)

• Cloud data platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)

• Knowledge of data compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA if applicable)

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
