Located in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood , UPMC Presbyterian is a Level 1 Trauma Center and a leader in organ transplantation, cardiology, trauma, stroke, and cutting-edge research . The Medical ICU (MICU) is a 32-bed critical care unit that specializes in treating patients with acute respiratory failure, sepsis, pre/post-lung transplants, renal failure, and toxicology cases . Nurses in the MICU gain hands-on experience with ventilators, trachs, vasopressors, neuromuscular blockades, and CRRT machines .
