Duties

NATURE OF WORK

• This is specialized technical work gathering evidence at crime scenes.

CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS

• Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under limited supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes by its lack of supervisory responsibility and from lower classes by its emphasis on the collection of a variety of types of crime scene evidence.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Detects, collects, preserves, packages, and transports evidence.
• Processes for latent fingerprints.
• Performs forensic photography and produces crime scene drawings.
• Prepares comprehensive written reports.
• Testifies as an expert witness in court.
• Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from an accredited two (2) year college or equivalent coursework and completion of specialized training related to forensic science and criminal investigations, and one (1) year experience in crime scene processing, forensic work, or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, ability, and skills.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

• Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.
