The ARES test facility is looking for an experienced Electronics Test Engineer to perform tasks associated with instrumentation and data acquisition during live fire testing at the facility.

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this Role:
  • Responsible for all aspects of data collection and instrumentation of the mechanical and electrical components of a weapon system during a live fire test event. Collect and analyze all test data and write data reports.
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation sensors (i.e., pressure, strain gages, load cells, torque, displacement, velocity thermocouples, etc) on test assets. Maintain an equipment calibration program.
  • Follow a Test Plan and ensure proper setup and calibration of transducers, amplifiers, data acquisition system, video cameras, velocity acquisition equipment, and the proper use of oscilloscopes, meters, oscillators, counters and power supplies.
  • Design, cost and implement instrumentation installation plans to support test programs. Provide input for proposals and future programs and provide support when necessary
  • As necessary, support activities associated with regulatory compliance with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF), Department of Defense (DoD), and Ohio Fire Marshal to include all explosive and ammunition logbooks, inventory , records, safe handling, etc. Support coordination of range clearance and approval with Camp Perry. Be listed as a responsible person (RP) on all site licenses.
  • Support general range site preparation and set-up for test operations to include fabrication of test targets and other tasks required per the test program
  • Ensure readiness of the range facility to include maintenance of buildings, rounds, roads, and equipment.
  • Operate various hand, bench and machine tools, as well as a skilled degree of safe operation with heavy equipment
  • Follow all safety directives and work to maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications Sought

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology (EET) or related discipline and 3-5 years experience
  • OR in lieu of, Associates Degree in Electronics or Electronics Technology and 7-10 years relevant experience
  • OR in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED and 15 plus years relevant experience
  • Experience with fundamental electronics and electrical installation, instrument calibration and maintenance procedures. Familiar with network addressing, video streaming, a wide variety of instrumentation hardware and data acquisition systems
  • Previous experience with ammunition handling, storage, and firing range operation is required
  • Must be familiar and comfortable with testing in accordance with Military Specifications and Military Standards.
  • Capable of reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment specifications Efficient in troubleshooting
  • Familiar with ATF regulations and documentation requirements. Must be able to be approved as a Responsible Person (RP) per BATF Compliance.
  • This role will require the candidate to work in both indoors and outdoors environments during all seasons.
  • Must be flexible and able to multi-task in a high tempo operational environment
  • Requires minimal supervision and capable of working independently with minimal errors
  • Able to work and communicate effectively in a small team
