Job Description

Example of Duties:

• Under limited supervision, performs supervisory and administrative work to ensure that the functions of the Board of Elections are carried out properly.
• Work involves receiving and processing applications for registration; filing for candidates for County and City offices; processing absentee ballots; maintaining voter lists in accordance with State, Federal and County laws, regulations, and policies.
• Supervises a full and part time staff assigned to the Board of Elections.
• Employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative in carrying out assignments.
• Employee must also exercise considerable tact and courtesy in extensive public contact.
• Reports to County Board of Elections.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of experience in administrative or clerical work, preferably in an elections setting, with the ability to interpret and understand relevant election laws and regulations.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license required upon hire and duration of employment. Out of state driver’s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state.
• Notary Public commission required within one year of hire.
• North Carolina Election Administrator’s Certificate required within three years of hire.
• Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, as well as submit to drug and alcohol testing as defined in the Robeson County Personnel Policy. A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants.
