Position: Data Conversion Lead – Workday HCM/Payroll Implementation

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Conversion Lead to support a municipal Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Payroll implementation. The role will focus on Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes, guiding municipal staff in building and validating Workday Data Gathering Workbooks (DGW) . Remaining phases include Parallel and Production builds , along with smaller practice builds. This position requires a hands-on leader with strong Workday and data migration expertise.
Lead all ETL activities for Workday HCM/Payroll data migration.
Collaborate with legacy system owners to extract data from multiple source systems.
Direct and oversee data mapping from legacy systems to Workday, working closely with functional leads and SMEs.
Manage pre- and post-load data validation activities to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Conduct “Lessons Learned” sessions and maintain clear, repeatable ETL and validation processes.
Analyze and review data sets for quality assurance, documenting and resolving discrepancies.
Partner with IT and data management teams to troubleshoot and address issues promptly.
Ensure all data activities comply with data protection regulations and industry standards.
Audit data, document findings, prepare reports, and track corrective action implementation.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
Proven experience with:
Workday HCM and Payroll functional areas ( Workday certification preferred – current or expired).
Leading ETL efforts, ideally with Workday as the target system.
Data analysis and management tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, auditing software ).
Data processing audits and reconciliation.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in tools such as SQL databases, Microsoft Excel, Python, Tableau .
Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
High integrity, ethical standards, and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
